Director of Operations – Rescue Coordinator
Ruthie is a South Carolina native who was born with a love for all animals. Originally from Orangeburg, Ruthie lived many years in Columbia, SC, with her two children, Michael and Cam. Moving back to her family property opened her eyes to the fact that not much progress had been made in the area of animal welfare in rural SC. She became involved with M.A.M.A.S. in 2006 after visiting the shelter and seeing a great need. After gaining an understanding of the challenges a poor, rural shelter/rescue faced, she determined to try to make things better by learning every aspect of what it takes to effectively run a shelter/rescue.
Ruthie currently serves as Director of Operations and Rescue Coordinator for M.A.M.A.S. and sets the operating procedures and medical protocols of the shelter. Her goals are to continue to try to save lives while educating the public on the importance of spay/neuter, and responsible dog and animal ownership.
Ruthie lives on a farm with five horses, three dogs, and two cats. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her kids, Clemson football, the shenanigans of her silly animals, and riding her beloved horse, Diego.
